To effectively prevent dangerous flyrock and blasting errors in quarries, the precise recording of drilling angles and trajectories is essential in modern mining. geo-konzept is now unveiling a first for this safety-critical quality control process: the company is launching its own borehole probe, developed entirely in-house and manufactured at its headquarters in Adelschlag.
By handling production locally and working closely with regional suppliers, geo-konzept guarantees not only top-tier quality—”Made in Bavaria”—but also drastically shorter delivery times. A key advantage becomes apparent when service is required: all spare parts are kept permanently in stock, minimizing costly operational downtime.
“Since we handle production in-house, we can shorten delivery times and respond with extreme flexibility when service is required,” explains Christian Rammelmeier, a specialist at geo-konzept and co-developer of the borehole probe. Even specialized repairs—such as re-potting a connector housing following a cable break—are carried out directly in Adelschlag, eliminating the need for a costly full cable replacement.
From a technical standpoint, the borehole probe is designed for maximum efficiency in rugged terrain. A Bluetooth module integrated into the “Powerbox” enables fully wireless data transmission to the data logger, doing away with the old reliance on conventional, error-prone RS232 connections. Combined with the company’s proprietary QuarryX blast design software, the system provides the perfect digital interface for cost-effective and safe blasting operations.
