The automated mini hangar: DJI Dock 4 is now available!

How about being able to simply park your drone in its own hangar for regular missions, from which it launches its missions completely automatically and lands on its own? A vision of the future?

With its Dock series, DJI has made this a reality. The compact DJI Dock 4 is a secure, high-tech drone hangar for the Matrice 5TD. Thanks to its compatibility with FlightHub 2, automated flight operations can be managed and monitored via a cloud-based system. DJI Dock 4 can optimize daily operations for surveying, inspection, facility management, and B.O.S.

Without lifting a finger: automated battery swap!

For continuous operations such as emergency response, the dock performs a fully automated battery swap in just 25 seconds, reducing the turnaround time between flights from 30 minutes of charging to just a few seconds, while automatically transferring data from the previous flight. Inside are four charging bays—three of which are occupied by charged batteries, and one kept free for the battery just returning from operation. The swap mechanism has successfully completed around two million cycles in the lab and subsequent live tests, so it is by no means a prototype anymore, but rather an industry-grade product.

The DJI Dock 4 features a whole bunch of intelligent functions that push the boundaries of what’s possible: The AI-powered workflow ensures greater precision, convenience, and safety. Thanks to its integrated object recognition, the Matrice 5TD performs real-time detection in the live feed and can distinguish up to 17 different objects: people, various animal species, smoke, fire, and even different types of vehicles. The new integrated microwave radar for optimized obstacle avoidance is another major advantage that proves particularly valuable when detecting high-voltage power lines, for example. As soon as an anomaly is detected, the system can send SMS, email, or platform notifications and trigger actions such as snapshots, recordings, tracking, or hovering, thereby covering the entire process from detection to response. After each mission, the system compares the latest data with historical aerial imagery or 3D models, automatically annotates the results, and exports a report.

The DJI Matrice 5TD was developed specifically for the DJI Dock 4 and combines telephoto imaging, infrared imaging, laser rangefinding, and full-color night vision. Daytime inspections, nighttime security surveillance, and surveying can all be performed with a single drone. The Matrice 5TD can carry a payload of up to 450 g and features side PSDK mounts and a top mount that can be used simultaneously. Combine accessories to suit your specific mission:
Mount speakers, spotlights, and a parachute together to enable aerial voice announcements and multi-level lighting during nighttime search operations, thereby ensuring the safety of ground teams.

The DJI Dock 4 can operate continuously even in harsh climates and environments. It is dust- and water-resistant to IP55 standards and can detect weather changes in real time by measuring precipitation, wind speed, and temperature. With DJI FlightHub 2’s online weather forecasts, timely alerts are sent, and flight missions can be terminated if necessary.

The DJI Dock 3 with the Matrice 4D will remain available for the time being; our geo-konzept experts recommend it for surveying tasks due to the Matrice 4D’s global shutter camera.
